The HS2 is a proposed new ultra-high-speed rail line designed to carry trains at up to 250 mph in the UK. Its planned Y shape route, will run trains between London and Birmingham and Manchester and Leeds. The UK Government say that the line would cost about 33 billion to build. But this is the so-called ‘Present Value’ not the real cash cost – and it excludes the cost of trains.
