The majority of sex offenders are known to their victims, with 8 out of 10 cases involving someone the victim knew. Children aged 11-15 are at the highest risk of becoming a victim of sex offense. Also, most victims are White. Interestingly, the majority of sexual assaults are not reported to the police, and the prevalence of false reporting is between 2% and 10%.
