You’ve probably have been hit by the Winter season, but we’ve come anyway to provide you with some tips to prepare your home for winter that you didn’t think of. Below are some easy tips to prepare your home for winter.
Outdoors. Cover any plants that are frost intolerant and could be hurt by the cold winter. Rinse down outdoor furniture and bring in all hammocks, seats, hose pipes, etc., indoors. Check the roof for any possible leaks, and trim tree branches away from the structure- that way if you experience a particularly bad storm, you can mitigate the damage.
Plumbing. Letting a faucet drip during extreme cold weather can prevent frozen pipes. Allowing a slow drip will help prevent freezing, but depending on temperature water may still freeze. To be extra cautious or for extreme Massachusetts weather conditions, consider wrapping your pipes with foil or fiberglass, then again with a insulated sleeve.
Kitchen. Clean out all perishable foods. Leaving out food may lure rodents and insects trying to get out of the Massachusetts winter air. Any dry food should be sealed in a cupboards or cabinet so it doesn’t attract any animals.
