What is Autism
Autism is on the rise. It’s all above the news, in every book and magazine I read, it is in effect, my life. With a son on the spectrum, it’s even more vital for me to see WHY it’s on the rise. Autism is currently divided into 3 groups, autism, Asperger Syndrome, PDD-NOS (Pervasive Development Disorder-Not Otherwise Specified)

Children Diagnosed With Autism
According to the reports released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the number of children with autism in the United States carry on to increase. The latest data suggests that 1 in 88 American children (1 in 54 boys) has some form of autism spectrum disorder. This marks a 78% increase in diagnoses over the earlier decade.

Team Up for Autism
The Dan Marino Foundation’s Team Up For Autism campaign that played out on facebook, foursquare, and Twitter. The foundation ropes research, services and treatment programs helping children with Autism. Lifetime costs for assistant a person diagnosed with Autism can be as high as $3.2 million, but can be reduced with early intervention. In the scheme of stuffs, Autism can be a minor disorder and there are healings and software that help those affected lead more “normal” lives. We should all do our best to welcome those with special needs in all settings.
