To drive any vehicle in the state of new york, you must have a driving license. Below is the process of applying for a driving license:
If you are turning 16 years old, you qualify to apply for a learner’s permit. In order to get the first driving license (Junior driver’s license), you must be a resident of New York, meet the age requirement and the eyesight standards. If you require contact lenses or glasses to meet the minimum eyesight requirements, they have to be worn each time you drive, or you would be committing a crime.
If you are turning 18 years old and have a valid junior driver’s license, you will automatically receive your full license in the mail.
You can still get a full license at age 17 if you have a valid junior driver’s license and have completed a driver education course.
