Through the centuries, golfers have maintained some of the most unique fashion styles in the sports world. Some of the more colorful styles and tartan plaids worn today are a reference tyo the long history of golf clothing.
For decades, a brimmed cap or Tam o’Shanter was the special touch of a golfer’s outfit. This days a baseball cap is the hat of choice for many modern golfers. First golf shoes were equipped with small nails to walk on slippery grass. In 1906 the “saddle oxford” style golf shoe introduced, and has been the standard style of golfing footwear ever since.
